When more questions are frequently asked, I will put them here.

Can I join the group to enter OCTs?
No, we are a registry of OCTs.  You cannot join the group as a member to participate in OCTs.  To do that, you have to follow the specific procedure for entry of the OCT you wish to join.

So how do I submit an audition or enter an OCT?
As you go through our registries, you will see a link to each OCT.  Clicking the link (usually in the form of an icon) will take you to the OCT's page, where you can find all the information about how to submit information to that OCT.

How do I compete in/host/judge/make an OCT?
Click on this link to be taken to our OCT Definitions & Advice page for more information on competing in, hosting, and judging OCTs.

How do I affiliate my group/OCT/OCL with OCTFollowers?
If your OCT/OCL is hosted at a group account, simply use the "Affiliate" widget to add us.  If your OCT/OCL is being hosted at a regular user account, then send us a note with the subject line "AFFILIATE WITH [your OCT's/OCL's name here].  We will affiliate with either type of account.   Note that we will only affiliate with OCTs, OCLs, general comic groups (ie. a group where all users can submit comics. we do not affiliate with fan groups), or other explicitly OC-related groups.  We are not seeking affiliation with other types of groups.

How can I submit information to OCTFollowers?
To submit any information to OCTFollowers, PLEASE SEND THE GROUP A NOTE.  I cannot stress this enough. Groups are not notified when new comments are made to blog posts, and it is therefore extremely difficult to keep track of comments.  Comments on the front page are likewise difficult to keep track of because we cannot see if another administrator has already responded to the comment.  When in doubt, send a NOTE.

What information should I include in my note to add a tournament?
:bulletblack: The name of the OCT (not necessarily the name of the account. For example, your account name might be O-C-T, but your tournament's name might actually be "Mary Sue Wars")
:bulletblack: The dA name of the OCT account (:icon: is better than :dev: ).
:bulletblack: The dA name of the primary administrator[s] (for this, :dev: is preferred).
:bulletblack: Whether the OCT is Under Construction, Accepting Auditions, Accepting Auditions until [deadline], In Progress, or Complete.
:bulletblack: Accepted storytelling media. Some of the more common categories are Comics, Animation, Flash Comics, Splash Pages, Literature, and Any.
:bulletblack: A brief, compelling description of what sets it apart from the rest, about three or four sentences long.  Your description can include important plot points, the OCT's tag line, unique tournament mechanics, or anything else that comes to mind.

For hosts submitting their OCT to the shortlist, we also ask for:
:bulletgreen: How many more auditions/competitors are needed before competition can begin.  OCTs who have not yet obtained at least 2/3 of their desired number of competitors will have their Shortlist application rejected.

What information should I include in my note to add an OC league?
:bulletblack: The name of the league (does not have to be the same as your account's name. For example, the THE INTERNATIONAL POKÉMON LEAGUE has the account name The-IPL)
:bulletblack: The dA name of the league account (:icon: is better than :dev: ).
:bulletblack: The dA name of the primary administrator[s] (:dev: is better than icon here).
:bulletblack: Whether the league hosts Duels, Tournaments, Challenges, or other events.
:bulletblack: A compelling description of what sets it apart from the rest, about three or four sentences long.

What is The Shortlist?
The Shortlist is a page on our site devoted to giving OCTs that need a few more competitors the extra publicity they need to start competition.  OCTs that have 2/3rds (66%) of their competitors already can apply to the Shortlist.

For example, if an OCT is seeking 32 competitors, it needs to have 21 committed competitors to be shortlisted.  Similarly, a tournament seeking 64 competitors would need to have 41 before it could apply to be shortlisted.

Shortlisted OCTs can remain shortlisted for a maximum of 5 weeks to prevent the list's abuse and keep the OCTs on it moving quickly.

How can I help your group?
In general, if you want to help us out, the best thing to do is follow the rules. :D  If you want to help in a more specific, administrative capacity, send the founder a note with the subject line "OCTFollowers", and we'll be glad to send you an official invitation for a staff position.  We're currently taking on new administrators.

What are "The Wanted Ads" all about?
Perhaps you need help running an event. Perhaps you want to be part of one. Or maybe you just need a partner to help you compete. Regardless, this section is for you!

But please read these lists before you send us anything! For example, if you need judges and someone is already posted here as a volunteer judge, ask them directly and simplify everything for everyone. Also, once your needs are met, please let us know so that we can remove your name.

Don't you know your alphabet?  Why isn't my OCT that starts with "The" in the "T" section of the directory?
As per the standard organizational convention, we ignore "The" at the beginning of an OCT's title when alphabetizing.
